Great watch but NOT water resistant! February 22, 2010

I just bought this watch and have been wearing it for a couple weeks now. As a 5'3" cyclist and runner I love it. Very intuitive functionality, lightweight and the watch face is not big like some other sport watches w. similar functionality making it ideal for those w. smaller wrists. However, despite claiming to be water resistant to 100m it is NOT water resistant at all! I wore it on a cycling ride where it happened to shower (not even rain) and after 2 hrs the watch case fogged all up! The fog inside the watch face went away after about 4 hrs but it was annoying. I will be keeping it since otherwise it seems to be an awesome sport watch but if you are a swimmer I definitely would not be getting this watch until Timex fixes this problem.

I bought this watch to help pace myself for competition runs. I mostly use it to help with 400 meter workouts so I can either stay consistent or time myself to go a little faster. I've never owned a watch like this, so the settings were a little confusing and I'm still getting used to the chronos and lap time settings.
Its a little bigger than I expected, but I'm short and petite so most watches look pretty big on me.
It's a great watch if you're even just beginning, or an avid athlete.

I've had another Timex Irinman watch before so I knew I would want one just the same except with a plastic armband, the last one I had was Velcro and tore up everything. Anyways I love thier watches because:
1. It's waterproof.
2. 3 different alarms.
3. Timer and stopwatch. I probably use the timer at least three times daily for different stuff here at college.
4. Two or more timezones. I work with a travelling kids camp in the summer and I lived being able to just hold down a button and have the right timezone!
There are probably more reasons I love this watch but I think you can see you get what you pay for and this is an excellent watch.
Plus black matches everything girls!

This watch is extremely comfortable and very easy to read. I have little wrists and I usually have a difficult time finding quality running watches that fit. The buttons are also fairly easy to navigate.
I have had this watch for about a year and I have super-glued the strap back to the face of the watch twice. Because of the odd shape of the strap and how the face hooks into the middle of it, it started to come unhinged not too long after I purchased it, but the super glue has helped in holding it together. I also have never quite understood the lap feature of the watch. The laps are hard to recall and you have to store them to memory before you see them, rather than scrolling through after you stop the timer.

I love this watch but after having my 3rd one go belly-up (I did say I loved it, so yes, I have bought it 3x) I am going to have to find a different model digital watch.
Background: I am a scientist and need a digital watch for work.
What I love about this watch:
-It has 24h time
-It gives me both day of the week and date (while my coworkers get confused about what day it is, I never do!)
-Love the timer
-Love the alarms and indiglo
-It looks nicer than your average digital watch. I like both the black and light blue.
What I don't love about this watch:
-It's easy for the little ring that holds the strap in place to crack and break off. This maybe the result of my wearing latex gloves at work and having to take them on/off over the watch numerous times each day. But I still don't think it should do that. A ponytail band does a decent job in lieu of the ring, but it kind of looks stupid.
-My second watch died as soon as I went swimming in it. In 5ft of water. For an IronMan watch, I thought that was odd.
-The faceplate on my third watch has completely detached from the strap. It's ridiculous. I'm going to have to crazy glue the watch to the strap and I shouldn't have to do that. And I've only owned it since August (It's now November.) I haven't treated this watch any different from the others.
Bottom line: I like the IronMan features, but the "sleek design" is not durable enough for me. :(
